Cris Nannarone

Cris Nannarone, Italian-bred Calgary native, began his career in entertainment in 1985 where he landed his first commercial before graduating from John Casablanca’s Acting Academy. He went on to continue to make appearances in commercials and locally produced films. He relocated to Vancouver in 1989 and made appearances in films such as “Short Time” and “The Lady Forgets”, as well as television series such as “Booker”, “Top of the Hill”, “Wiseguy” and “MacGyver”. His other credits in film and television include “Convict Cowboy”, “The Ruby Silver”, “Viper”, “Honey I Shrunk the Kids”, “The Marshal”, “Bad Faith”, “Tom Stone” and “Call Me: The Rise & Fall of Heidi Fleiss”.

In October 1990, Cris took his career towards standup comedy. From 1996 to 1998, he debuted at The Riviera Comedy Club in Las Vegas, made several appearances on the Comedy Network’s “Comedy at Club 54”, showcased for ABC, NBC, HBO, FOX, CBS as well as The Comedy Store and The Improv in Los Angeles. In 1997 he was personally chosen by Bud Friedman, founder of The Improvisation Club Chain, to close out the evening of The Vail Comedy Competition, where he also finished as a semi-finalist. In 2001, Cris showcased his comedy at the prestigious Melbourne Comedy Festival in Australia and starred in the TV pilot “Comedy @ Home”.

Cris now performs his ethnic comedy bilingually, both in English and his family’s language, Italian. He has headlined for the Montreal Italian Week, The Greco-Roman Comedy Show and The Italian Comedy Festival Tour. He is also a writer, producer and star in “The Spaghetti Western Comedy Show”, an English-Italian themed show. In 2006, Cris Debuted at Just For Laughs Iternational Comedy Festival as part of "Wiseguys, The Italian Comedy Event".

His standup is based on his own life, personal experiences, misunderstandings and confusions, punctuating his stories with facial and body movements. With each performance, he incorporates audience participation and improvises so that each show is unique.
